How does Remit AI connect to Open Dental for automatic payment posting?

Remit AI integrates with Open Dental through the standard Open Dental API, which allows authorized third-party applications to read and write data directly to the Open Dental database. Zentist's team configures and tests the API connection during onboarding; no modifications to your Open Dental setup are required, and your team continues using Open Dental exactly as before.

Yes. Remit AI is built for multi-location dental groups and DSOs. Payments for all locations are managed centrally in the Remit AI dashboard and posted to the corresponding Open Dental instance for each practice automatically. Each location's data remains separate in Open Dental while being visible in aggregate through the Remit AI dashboard.

What happens to payments that Remit AI cannot automatically match and post to Open Dental?

Unmatched payments are flagged as exceptions and placed in a review queue within the Remit AI dashboard. Your billing team can then review the exception, identify the correct patient and claim, and complete the posting manually or request assistance from Zentist's support team. Exception rates are typically very low, well under 5% of total payment volume.

How does automatic posting to Open Dental improve AR days?

Automatic posting eliminates the delay between payment receipt and AR update. With manual posting, payments received today may not appear in Open Dental for 1–3 days, depending on billing team capacity.
